A drumbeat of GAs or a GA of drumbeats?

Geneffects has a post introducing GAs and their use in music. Digging further this itinerant bartender/programmer markets an interesting system called musing that uses interactive genetic algorithms to evolve cool drumbeats. As my 16-year old would say, raw, totally raw.

Comments:
I'd love to say MuSing uses GA, but when you get right down to it, it's just hill-climbing as mutation is the only operator employed. What's interesting with evolving music is that mutation probabilities must be much higher than in typical GA and EP applications or convergence is reached too quickly and the user becomes bored with the homogeneity of the results.
