EDAs and GECCO-2006

The Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO) is the largest conference in genetic and evolutionary computation and it covers a broad range of research areas in genetic and evolutionary computation. The next GECCO (GECCO-2006) will take place in Seattle (WA) on July 8-12, 2006. Since I primarily work in Estimation of Distribution Algorithms (EDAs), I'd like to mention that GECCO-2006 offers several events related to EDAs and it should thus provide a great place for EDA researchers as well as those who would like to learn more about EDAs or talk about them.

EDA track
First of all, since the last year's GECCO, there is an EDA program track. GECCO-2006 EDA track is chaired by Peter A. N. Bosman. The last year's EDA track was a great success and I hope that this year's track will be even better.

Second, there is a workshop Optimization by Building and Using Probabilistic Models (OBUPM-2006) organized by Peter A. N. Bosman, Joern Grahl, Kumara Sastry and some other guy (I), which focuses specifically on continuous EDAs.

Finally, I'm giving a tutorial Probabilistic Model-Building Genetic Algorithms, which will provide an introduction to this dynamic area of genetic and evolutionary computation.

Of course, there's a lot more to GECCO-2006 than EDAs and for more details, please visit its web page.

Hi, Mr Pelican!!

Well, I like all those weird names. I think they are so funny. :D
